Project Esperanza operates two schools specifically designed for Haitian immigrant children in the Dominican Republic. Our unique bilingual curriculum, delivered in Spanish and Haitian Creole, ensures that language is never a barrier to learning. Our dedicated teaching staff comprises college graduates and those nearing completion of their degrees, meeting the high standards set by the Dominican Ministry of Education. This diverse team includes Dominicans, Dominicans of Haitian descent, and Haitian immigrants with varied backgrounds and experiences, creating a rich educational environment.
Our school day for pre-school through 3rd grade runs from 8 AM to 1 PM, with a nutritious lunch provided. An afternoon program, from 2 PM to 5:30 PM, caters to 4th through 9th graders, whose ages can range from 10 to 18 years old. This age range reflects the challenging realities many of our students face, as disrupted childhoods often mean they are catching up on missed educational opportunities. Through these programs, we provide a stable, supportive, and empowering space for learning and growth.
